The National Fire Protection Association reports that 71% of smoke alarms which failed to operate had missing, disconnected or dead batteries. Unfortunately, almost two-thirds of all fire deaths occur in homes where there is no working smoke detector and it's estimated that you are twice as likely to perish in a fire if you don't have a working smoke alarm. This reinforces how important it is to take this time each year to check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Dec 2008: Once again, Santa has taken a ride with the volunteers of NSEC. On December 21st, Santa spent a few hours to bring the holiday spirit to the community of Tinton Falls, District 2. This annual event is always a treat with our volunteers and for Santa to get up-close and personal with his fans. |
